Often times we are dealt a hand of cards by life and it’s up to us whether we choose to play that hand or fold our cards. The world isn’t always nice, it isn’t always great, but every now and then, through the thick of it all, no matter what it is that tries to ruin the moment, there is always a prevailing light that breaks through and we get a glimpse of just how good life can be.
So, when COVID-19 hit, the first thing I could think of was Samantha and Garrett. I just couldn’t let their day be ruined by this situation. We didn’t know what life had in for us, and the uncertainty that this pandemic would bring, but after talking with Samantha and Garrett, and when they decided that they would for-go their big wedding, in favor of a small, intimate ceremony, I knew that I had to deliver even in this gloomy time that we were in.
What I got to witness was the power of love and family even during the darkest times. Everyone was so excited to watch Samantha and Garrett tie the knot and make something beautiful out of this situation the world was facing.
There couldn’t have been a more perfect day to shoot and document this wedding day. The bay was calm and the sun was peaking out from behind the clouds, bringing a perfect mix of light and airy goodness.
I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of their wedding day and watch them share in this moment and be able to come out of it calling each other husband and wife.
It was refreshing in these dark and uncertain times, there can be great value in imagining a bit of star in each human soul. Not just that it gives some hope for humanity at a time when man’s inhumanity to man seems ever on the increase; but also because it points to an inner brightness that can light the way in dark times.
Even at our darkest times we cannot lose faith, we cannot give up because even light shines the brightest in pitch black. Just be patient and believe, belief in yourself, belief in God, and love will prevail…..
