Get to know Jonathan
My career plans we’re much more exciting when I was 5….. My dream like all kids was to be a Transformer “Bumble Bee” and blow stuff up, protect the universe, change into junk cars, and not have a care in the world..but I soon realized that I wasn’t a cybernetic organism living on Cybertron so that was a wash…what are the odds? So I settled on the Air Force after 9/11 happened. Served 6 years and decided that Destin, FL wasn’t a bad place to be and was still close enough to my home town New Orleans, LA.
Photography found me as a kid thanks to my father who was an avid photographer and has followed me through my life. Nothing really prepared me for being this awesome. It’s kind of a shock. It’s kind of a shock to wake up every morning and be bathed in this purple light.. I live a little bit on the seat of my pants, I try to be alert and available for life to happen to me. We’re in this life, and if you’re not available, the sort of ordinary time goes past and you didn’t live it. But if you’re available, life gets huge. You’re really living it.
My style is unique and I focus on the ‘Why’ and the ‘You’… I don’t believe that you can give the same performance every time. It’s physically impossible, each wedding is different and special in its own way, so why bother? If you don’t do what is happening at that moment, then it’s not real. Then you’re holding something back. I live to capture those spontaneous moments that you can’t hold on to for the rest of your life.
I always recommend people get in trouble. Commit yourself to an open mike night or write something and say you’re going to read it in public, but get in trouble. You’re never going to learn until you fail. … You have to go out there and figure out what you can do and can’t do.

WHERE I LIVE & WORK
I travel a lot, and I’m always busy! But when I’m around Navarre, you’ll easily find me at home, editing photos, having fun with my wife and two girls, creating new ideas or drinking tons of coffee and planning my next project. So, if you’re around Navarre, make sure to stop by. I’d always be happy to see you and treat you to a good cup of coffee.
I’m always looking to collab with fellow photographers. So if you’re a photographer and need someone to help with creativity, 2nd shooter to help shoot for a project or maybe just brainstorm on some new ideas – you are very welcome to contact me. I can even help you brainstorm, if you’re looking for a crazy second opinion.
